Media: schools are closed
Real life: schools are open and teachers are still in work to teach vulnerable children and children of key workers…whilst providing online work and support for those children at home…whilst distributing food or vouchers for free school meals children…whilst checking on and safeguarding our most vulnerable families…whilst continuing to ensure the wellbeing of their staff…whilst continuing to provide this support across the school holidays.
Oh, and teachers/staff with kids who also need teaching those online lessons at home. And supporting emotionally. And teachers who have kids with additional needs without an EHCP or with one but not wanting to send them to a public place.
All on top of the worry of how this will effect not just the vulnerable or children with but those who cannot cope with the change. Those who don’t fully understand what’s going on. Those with anxiety.
A stark reminder to not believe everything the media reports.
