My oat and honey facial scrub

Today I made my oatmeal and honey facial scrub/mask.

I posted a video to YouTube do take a look.

Oat and honey exfoliating mask

2 Tablespoons of oats

1 Tablespoon of clear honey

3 tablespoons of water Leave mixture to soak for 10 minutes

Rub over face and leave on for 15 minutes

Here are is some very useful information about the benefits of oatmeal and honey.

Oatmeal

Amino Acids

Oatmeal contains 18 different amino acids, which are essential to healthy skin. Amino acids act as building blocks for the body, helping to rebuild tissue and promote healing. Your face can absorb amino acids from the oatmeal in a face mask, making it an ideal ingredient to help heal blemishes and repair damaged skin.

Hypoallergenic

Oatmeal has skin-soothing properties and it is hypoallergenic. When combined with other products, those with sensitive skin or allergies can enjoy the benefits of an oatmeal face mask. These characteristics can also help alleviate rashes and allergic reactions, as well as sunburn and other skin damage.

Moisturizing

While oatmeal alone does not moisturize your skin, it is a beneficial component in a moisturizing face mask. Oatmeal is a humectant, which means that it helps your skin retain moisture. When used in conjunction with skin-hydrating ingredients, oatmeal can help your skin take on a glowing, dewy appearance.

Exfoliant

The course, granular texture of oatmeal makes it an effective exfoliant. Exfoliation sloughs away dry, dead skin cells to make way for fresh, healthy ones. When used regularly, the combination of exfoliating, new skin growth encouraged by the amino acids and the extra moisture provided by the ingredients in an oatmeal face mask promote vibrant, younger-looking skin.

Honey

Spots: Honey is a natural antibacterial, so it is great for the treatment of spots and spot prevention. Ageing: It is full of antioxidants, it is great for slowing down the ageing process. Complexion boost: It is extremely moisturising and soothing, so it helps to create a glow. Pores: Honey is clarifying because it opens up pores making them easy to unclog.

The upcoming Miss African Spirit beauty pageant

I was recently told about an exciting pageant competition for Miss African Spirit.

This competition sounds so interesting I just had to share.

“The goal of the Miss African Spirit Pageant is to instill a sense of pride and confidence in young women of African heritage by promoting the culture and identity within the wider community and providing a positive image with which to identify”

I think this Pageant sounds like a great event and beaming with culture, I was told by the event organizer that there is no swimwear section to this event and with this in mind I am sure that it is a tasteful pageant promoting awareness as well as raising money for charity.

Miss African spirit is taking entrants of African heritage or birth.
The pageant is not your typical pageant as it focuses on empowering woman hopping to promote future leaders of tomorrow.
Miss African spirit is an event beaming with pride and culture.
Looking at Miss African Spirit Pageant’s pictures from last years event the event was full of beautiful woman, African dress, fabrics, style and colour.
I love the concept of this pageant and I look forward to seeing each section of the event and I will be updating you all on the winner of the pageant after the event, with some pictures of the day.
If you are interested in entering the Pageant or if you would like tickets for the event please click on the link below.
I have also uploaded a new YouTube video about this event which can be found in the post above this blog entry.

Natural hair Inspiation

I wanted to share some images of hair inspiration which has kept me on the straight and narrow in my journey to grow my hair natural and free from chemical treatments.

At times embracing my new hair has been a learning kerb and hard but building my YouTube channel and trying new things and learning and sharing has helped me so much.

I am in love with my hair and I feel it has changed me so much, but a change that was welcomed.

I have now been Natural 14 Months since my last relaxer and 12 plus  months since my big chop.

I transitioned (had part relaxed and natural roots) for 2 months before cutting off the remaining relaxer.

For those of you embarking on this exciting new you, exciting new journey always remember the reason why you wanted to go natural and hang in there.

Most of all remember we all have different hair types so hair envy should be just that envy but love what is on your head and do styles that suites your texture and style.

I have hair envy for big big long hair but right now I have neck length hair and I am happy with my hair.

Good luck to all just starting and here is to healthy chemical free hair to all my Naturals out there
